One of the things that people fear the most is how they will look when they get older. No one likes to see those lines and wrinkles appearing in their skin. You can call them laugh lines and experience ribbons or whatever cute name you want to come up with but the truth is, they only come with age. Young people don’t have them do they? I think I was 25 the first time I looked in the mirror and saw that I had a little wrinkle extending upward from my eyebrow. At 27 I discovered that the lines in my face didn’t go away after I stopped smiling. That’s when I decided something needed to be done. However, personally, I’m not a fan of surgery and didn’t like the idea of my face getting cut up. So although seeing those wrinkles is not a fun thing to notice, there are answers! Here are a few ways you can reverse the clock without having to undergo major surgery and have a knife cut into your face:
- Botox Injections
Botox injections are probably the most common way to get rid of the wrinkles in our skin. Botulinum toxins in various forms are used to temporarily paralyze a certain muscle group’s activity in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Botox injections usually last from about four to six months before the muscle between to regain their function allowing the wrinkles to reappear. There is no limit to how often you can get receive a series of botox injections and the more you get them, the less obvious your lines and wrinkles will be. Just like you can train arm or leg muscles to be strong; face muscles can be trained to be weak or relaxed. - Non-Surgical Facelift
There are several different ways to go about non surgical face lifts and different companies do it different ways. It is a non invasive way to improve to change your look. Methods such as laser skin resurfacing can be used in order to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Generally speaking, it is an outpatient procedure but there still is a healing time of about a week or two. While non surgical face lifts are still considered to be facial cosmetic surgery, there are no knives used and no cuts made. These newer technologies that are used are based on the ability to shape the face molecules without the need for full on surgery. - Stem Cell Therapy
This is a very interesting procedure that is quickly gaining popularity among the celebrities. Stem cells are taken from the blood stream or bone marrow or other parts of the body and treated in a lab in order to mimic real stem cells. Once these stem cells are put back in to the body, they regenerate much like natural stem cells and help the body to heal itself. When used for erasing wrinkles, the stem cells are placed in strategic areas in the face so that the broken tissue or missing elasticity in the skin can regenerate and smooth out the wrinkles in the skin. - Home Remedies
Of course you have your DIY home remedies for getting rid of wrinkles but these are not proven to actually work. Things like using cucumber slices on a clean face for 30 minutes every day or rubbing olive oil into your skin every day for 20 minutes is said to reduce the appearance of wrinkles but the truth is, nothing will work as fast or as effectively as the above therapies.
If you are a little more daring, you can undergo the life to permanently change the structure of your face so that the wrinkles remain smoothed out. However, as our skin properties change as we age, we will always be gaining new wrinkles and you don’t want to constantly be cutting up yourself so something like botox injections or the other outpatient procedures would probably be a better idea unless you are trying to gain a whole new face all together. But, if you simply want to do away with those pesky wrinkles then you can try one of the above ideas and see how it works for you. They are mostly inexpensive comparatively and widely available to the public.
